Golden Compass did get two nominations: Design and Visual Effects. I'd say the VE could be theirs, the opposition being Pirates of the and Transformers... Which could be good for the story to continue (fingers crossed)!

Grip - I saw something about the trailer also in the nomination. Can that be true? That's a new one on me if so.

Excuse me for posting something that must already be known. I don't follow the Golden Compass, so if anyone does I hope you already know this. I was searching for Oscar 2008 news for tonight and I understand the Golden Compass was nominated for:

LR, I just checked the official nominations listings on the Oscars website - did not mention a category for trailers, though?! But Art Direction (which I bungled up as Design, sorry!) and Visual Effects were there. Tomorrow morning we'll know more!

I'll watch it on TV, so I will get up at 2 a.m. I like this show and the atmosphere. I have to work on Monday, but I do it once in a year.
