He did, but it glues on him - and someone will always be out there to make that statement. Don´t even think, he is against it these days - some events and interviews I am sure, he even enjoys...some people just don´t take in facts...JoniJoni wrote:" By contrast, the only household name in "Tintin's" cast is current James Bond incarnation Daniel Craig, who is notorious for eschewing press junkets."
I don't understand this statement. When he's promoting a movie, it seems he's doing interviews every other day. I thought he really put himself out there for QOS and Defiance.

The top notch acting in the Weisz/Craig/Spall 'Betrayal' is emotionally true, often v funny and its beautifully staged with filmic qualities..
Spielberg hands Jackson 'Tintin' reigns
Steven Spielberg has handed his Tintin film over to Peter Jackson, says Variety.
The pair had agreed to each direct a movie based on Hergé's cartoon creation, though plans for a trilogy have reportedly been sidelined for now in favour of completing the first movie.
Spielberg has finished 32 days work on the motion-capture blockbuster in Los Angeles and will allow producer Jackson to complete work on the film. It is believed that Spielberg will retain a sole director credit.
"It's hard to delineate between directing and producing on films like this," an insider said.
Producer Kathleen Kennedy added that the creative switch is not problematic, saying: "They are amazingly collaborative, even more so than Steven and George [Lucas were on the Indiana Jones films]."
The Adventures Of Tintin: The Secret Of The Unicorn, starring Jamie Bell, Daniel Craig, Andy Serkis, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, is scheduled for release in 2011.

Tintin video unveiled
HAT-TRICK: Peter Jackson and Steven Spielberg promote their first Tintin movie via an online video, paying homage to bungling detectives Thomson and Thompson.
Relevant offersEveryone knows Hollywood giants Peter Jackson and Steven Spielberg are collaborating on three Tintin movies, but rarely has the public seen the two top film-makers in the same place.
A new online video shows them not only together, but with the potential to be a snappy comic duo.
The official website for Tintin unveiled this week a two-minute video recording of Jackson and Spielberg made for the the Angouleme International Comics Festival in France.
In the video Jackson and Spielberg wear bowler hats and carry umbrellas as a homage to two of the Tintin series' most popular characters, the bungling detectives Thomson and Thompson. They are seated between a cardboard cutout of Tintin, the plucky Belgian detective.
"We're here to celebrate Tintin's 80th year in existence," said Spielberg, who is directing the first Tintin film Secret of the Unicorn.
"[He's] no longer the young man you see behind us," quipped Jackson. "But it's a movie about an 80-year-old young reporter. He's got long grey hair, [a] long grey beard.
"You wait till you see it. It's going to be amazing."
"It's been a long row to hoe, but here we are," said Spielberg, who bought the rights to Tintin after making Raiders of the Lost Ark. "It's an honour for me to be working with my friend Peter Jackson for the first time."
"And the same for me," said Jackson. "And I'm glad that we're making Tintin before we reach our 80th birthday."
Spielberg completed the shooting of Secret of the Unicorn in Los Angeles this month. Work is continuing at Weta Digital in Wellington.

Spielberg and Jackson are both americans and now its understandable, why even they had problems financing the films. It seems the film industry still circles around the US market for a film to succeed or fail. Well -. they have enough time to market their baby until 2011.JEC57 wrote:http://nerddads.com/la-times-article-on-tintin/

New article on 3D
http://www.time.com/time/magazine/artic ... 41,00.html
"Every movie I made, up until Tintin, I always kept one eye closed when I've been framing a shot," Spielberg told me. That's because he wanted to see the movie in 2-D, the way moviegoers would. "On Tintin, I have both of my eyes open."

Tin Tin is the 2nd most anticipated 3D movie (after Avatar)
The Adventures Of Tintin: Secret Of The Unicorn
Our second most-anticipated 3D flick, after Avatar, uses the same system that Cameron designed and, indeed, shot at the same location in LA, also known as The Volume. Peter Jackson and Steven Spielberg, long-time fans of the intrepid, bequiffed boy detective, will team up for this two-part mocap extravaganza, with Spielberg taking the directorial reins for the first instalment. Co-scripted by Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish, Secret Of The Unicorn will see Tintin (Jamie Bell) and his dog Snowy become involved in a search for ancient treasure. Daniel Craig, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost also star in a film that we expect will look like one of Herge's books come to life.
