Daniel Craig Bomb Scare Tops Broadway Cell Phone Incident
A Steady Calm
BROADWAY MAGAZINE – Much has been made about the cell phone interruptions at A Steady Rain on Broadway with Hugh Jackman pacing about and addressing the culprit directly. Daniel Craig exhibited a similar ease and patience with the cell phone disturbance, perhaps that is because he is no stranger to interruptions on stage. In fact, while performing in London in David Rabe’s Hurlyburly, Daniel Craig had a performance interrupted by a bomb threat at The Old Vic in March, 1997.
According to a report from the New York Times news service “fifteen minutes before the final curtain, a bomb threat cleared the theater. Unfazed, the actors walked across the street and finished the play in a small park.”
“I think I preferred it outside,” said the actress Kelly MacDonald, who played Diane in “Trainspotting” and co-starred with Daniel Craig in the production.
No doubt, an annoying cell phone interruption is far less threatening than a bomb scare. No wonder Daniel Craig was able to remain calm. For opening night coverage of A Steady Rain and other news follow us on Twitter.

JACKMAN AND CRAIG FANS UPSET NEW YORKERS
Wednesday September 30,2009
HUGH JACKMAN and DANIEL CRAIG's new play A STEADY RAIN is causing chaos on Broadway, because the screaming fans the stars attract are disturbing their New York neighbours.
The actors are attracting hordes of devotees to their nightly stage performances at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre, and they're making so much noise, they can be heard in other surrounding theatres.
According to the New York Daily News, producers of rival show Superior Donuts have "had a talk" with Jackman and Craig's show bosses about the growing noise problem.
And Steady Rain producers have reportedly agreed to have a Superior Donuts employee stand outside their theatre - to remind star-struck fans other shows are in progress.
The noise issue isn't a first for Jackman and Craig - who just last week (23Sep09) stopped mid-performance to lambast a rude audience member whose cellphone rang repeatedly.

Not everyone is happy that Hugh Jackman and Daniel Craig have landed in NYC for the new drama "A Steady Rain." The raucous cheers the gents receive outside the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre on a nightly basis are disrupting another Broadway show across the street.
An industry insider says that producers of "Superior Donuts" are relieved when tour buses line up on 45th St. because it prevents masses of admiring fans from trying to catch a glimpse of the delectable duo on their doorstep. The spy adds that the "Donuts" crew has “had a talk” with their neighbors on the Great White Way about the ongoing noise pollution.
Until New Yorkers tire of Jackman and Craig — which may never happen — a “Donuts” employee will stand outside the theater, reminding star-struck fans that other shows are still in progress.
Though clearly popular, the “Steady Rain” stars have their own problems. A ringing cell phone during a performance last week offended Jackman so much he broke character and asked the offender, “You want to get that?” before the show resumed.

Hugh Jackman, Daniel Craig drama sets Broadway record
NEW YORK (Reuters) - The new Broadway drama "A Steady Rain," starring Hollywood stars Hugh Jackman and Daniel Craig, has set the record for the highest weekly ticket sales of a non-musical play, its producers said on Tuesday.
The play about two Chicago policeman earned just under $1.17 million at theater box offices in the week ending September 20 while the drama was still in previews.
It beat the previous record of $1.06 million set by comedian Billy Crystal's "700 Sundays" in May 2005.

Hugh Jackman & Daniel Craig @ ‘A Steady Rain’ Opening Night
September 30th, 2009 at 10:19 am
Hugh Jackman and Daniel Craig pose on the red carpet for their Broadway opening night of ‘A Steady Rain’ at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre in New York.
Despite breaking the ‘Broadway record for the highest weekly gross of a non-musical production, making $1,167,954 in its opening week,’ the play itself is getting lukewarm reviews. It runs until December 6.
Just the chance to see these two live in person would be worth it, don’t you think? Family and friends alike came out to support these two great actors:
* Deborra-Lee Furness
* Satsuki Mitchell
* Bobby Flay
* David Schwimmer
* Zoe Buckman
* Matthew Morrison
* Naomi Watts
* Liev Schreiber
* Jerry Seinfeld
* Ellen Barkin
* Whoopi Goldberg
* Gayle King
* Matthew Broderick
* Jeff Goldblum

Daniel Craig and Hugh Jackman are movie stars. They don't do press lines, darling; they have uber-brief press conferences.
Reporters and camera crews got a few minutes to assail the pair, along with playwright Keith Huff and director John Crowley, after Tuesday's Broadway opening of "A Steady Rain."
Both thesps, who portray Chicago cops in "Rain," take on a distinctive Windy City accent that they picked up on a reconnaissance trip to the city during which they hung out with real police.
"We had some pizza, drank a few beers, went to a game at Wrigley Field," Jackman said. "We learned a lot."
Chicago-based Huff said the pair of megastars didn't bring any Hollywood attitude into the rehearsal room. "Nobody threw any chairs or had any meltdowns or had any diva fits."
