I hope Daniel will be back and that it will be a standalone story.

Would be good to see a different Bond Girl. No more Lea or Monica.

I am undecided on Waltz.

Hm, I still think, they take their time, having hols off Bond all of them for now. But who knows.

As for Daniel? Like he said himself, its either getting out in time or going on and getting f***ed. Of course, it doesn't have to go this way. It all depends whether or not they have a great script this time. I don't want to keep him never mind what. He has to have a good reason to continue. His legacy is still rather intact.

Oh Daniel please do one more!! :D For me he is Bond. It would be great if they did a standalone story and make it a great one to end his term as Bond with a bang!

Yep......... one more PLEASE!! :D

Imo, it is only in the last two movies - SF & SP - that he has become Bond with more apparent ease and style than before. CR was in a class of its own but there was no denying Dan's confidence wasn't that great (after all the internet haters), even though he did a fantastic job of hiding any 'wobbles'.

But if the link FC posted is right, Spring 2016 seems WAY too soon for him to start another. Maybe I feel that because of the length of time he was away after SF? I have already said that I DO NOT want another Dry Spell and, if not Bond, what else is there?? He is such a great actor he should NOT be typecast but Dan can afford to be picky these days and I don't think he'll take on a new non Bond role without being ultra excited by the script. :?

Won't he be doing Othello in spring of 2016?
Well, I am going on the 25th Bond, Quarter of a century of Bond and possibly he would do it as a milestone movie. Although I can see him doing a cameo, possibly taking the new Bond under his wing OR, a new Bond and he will have to come in to save the day to show the newbie how it's done. That would be very cool. Bond thrives on Adrenalin, he could never just settle down with a woman and live a quiet life. He heeds to hunt, kill and make love to women with passion. Well, only Daniel knows what he will do or want to do.
Deep down I think he gets a kick out of being an action hero of sorts.

He is doing Othello in fall, boss.
But I don't quite believe this report. As far as we know, they are all fed up with Bond right now. But we shall see.

Still, I don't see a chance to start shooting any time soon. fall 2017 is my guess and fall 2018 if Daniel is not on board. We'll see.

If Bond starts Spring 2016, he'll be busy rehearsing for Othello. But of course BB would wait for him. My thoughts are:

#1. Selfish
#1a. I don't want another dry spell like last time. That was unbearable.
#1b. If he does Bond, he'll have to keep himself up to look his best. We get to see him at his fittest (but ahem for Spectre bc of no shirtless scenes) and either the finest clothes.
#1c. I don't want him to do a movie where he has to speak an accent other than his own. His voice and accent are at least 25% of my appeal toward him.

2. Regarding how he said he'd only come back for the $, I believe it. I think it's unlikely that there will be a GREAT script. They thought they had this with Spectre, but the reviews were nothing compared to SF (and I personally agree.) No Sam, Spectre tied up the four nicely, and time to move onto other projects. BUT, everyone has a price, and it remains to be seen if it's enough for DC.

3. He likes playing Bond. It's changed his life in every way. For many to believe that he's the best Bond ever is a HUGE accomplishment and compliment. Who could have predicted that Connery's position could ever be in jeopardy. He's a man, and every hetero-man would kill to play his Bond for a day.

4. Everyone wants to go out on top. This is his chance. He doesn't need just one more to finally prove himself.

5. I think he'll read the initial script and go from there. If he just can't get into it, he'll walk. If it's something he can work with, he'll demand a helluvalot of $$,$$$,$$$ and do one more. Thing is, he's such a major part in the story creation, and for now, the well is dry.

Actually I don't believe in this report.
But I also don't believe the $$$ talk. It was him bullshitting like the rest during that time.
He has to decide first, before they can come up with a script, because you can't just write a script and don't know, who is going to be Bond. His Bond is different to anothers Bond.
He could do another film, whatsoever, before he starts seriously with Othello. IMO, he would want to do another film, before going into the Bond business.

So, they might throw ideas around, without getting too serious about it next year. But that's it, as far as I can see it.

He did say on Ellen that he would really miss Bond if he didn't decide to come back again....

Yes, they have to have continuity with his Bond. They couldn't just replace him with another actor and then bring up Lea's name in the next one. Also, he's said that the creative process takes a year before they start.

I'm also not convinced that he doesn't have a contract for one more. We can't believe what we're told or what we read. He used to have a 2-movie contract, but now he doesn't. Who knows what the truth is or what it really means, anyway.

I just don't see him signing up for another without (1) having a great story or (2) doing it because it will be the biggest paycheck he will see again, IMO. And that's okay, too. People understand that. It's a hard offer to turn down. He certainly wouldn't be the first, and we're not talking about an insignificant amount of money. Nor would the movie be crap. It might just be quite good but not great.

There was also a vid were Michael Wilson said something like he's confident Daniel would do another Bond.

I agree with what Gg said

First they need to finalize on the studio that will get Bond. I think Wilson said they will know by Spring 2016.
So I think Daniel coming back depends on the Studio, Director, Script and the direction towards which they want to take Bond.

There is speculation here that Sony may not renew their arrangement -

"Depending on the terms of the deal (one of the reasons Sony is not expected to re-up is because their deal involves them co-financing the movies for not remotely 50% of the profits), would having a guaranteed mega-smash every 2-3 years give them the security to figure out what they are in a somewhat new world? Or would it be biting off so much more than they could chew that it would do more harm than good?"

If Warner Bros gets it, I think they will bring in Nolan to direct. If they decide on a standalone story Daniel can still do it hoping the script is good and Nolan can bring his own screenplay as he is known to do that...
However if they decide on a fresh take on Bond, Daniel will not come back , which is understandable
