I just saw this last night - review in the Movie Roles thread.
This scene was so moving.

The Sargeant does not eat anything...his emotions overwrought, his body tense, he tastes nothing....barely eats a biscuit or takes a bit of tea and pours the rest out at different points in the film. Nothing to sate him. "It's better not to eat at a time like this." he would later say.

During this scene, he sits and eats several spoonfuls of jam....finally something that sates him, its sweetness, the strawberries picked and preserved, the last memory of his wife, the thought that he will never see his family again finally hits him and his stoic face wrenches with all of his sadness and longing......sooooo moving.....

Think about all the words that we had to use and nevertheless almost all this scene is mute. It is absolutely wonderful, he is a wonderful actor, thing frequently forgotten for being so handsome, make some fool movies

I've never seen this movie, but I really want to. If its that moving, then its an OK in my book.
