My favorite moment of the Bond part was when he smiled at the dogs. So cute.
To be frank, I couldn't really say, I saw a lot of what was going on. I was more or less postng here or on MI6 and read, what the folks were writing. That continued after his film. Shame on me...

But from WHAT I saw, it was a bit of people in different century clothes walking around at the beginning. Nothing that really got me going.

But I am really happy for Boyle, that it was well received. I want him for Tattoo!!!
The top notch acting in the Weisz/Craig/Spall 'Betrayal' is emotionally true, often v funny and its beautifully staged with filmic qualities..

Its getting huge ratings in the US. They keep recaping part of the Bond clip and note what a big favorite it is. What a great coup it turned out to be for DC and bond. Boyle is a great idea for Tatto sequels but he may want something really big now like Bond 24. :)

The sequence of the Queen and Daniel Craig was when millions of housewives turned back on.

I still think Daniel Craig and Queen Elizabeth should make a movie together.

Daniel Craig and The Queen make movie history

James Bond sketch makes history

It was a sketch no one could image; actor Daniel Craig and the Queen featured in a cut scene during the 2012 Olympic games opening. The concept was funny, edgy, and it gave audiences a thrill.

The Queen made her first acting role in probably the most viewed ‘short film” she’s ever been in. Danny Boyle praised her for being “very helpful and very sharp” during the filming. Craig and the Queen worked well together, and the scene broke the “Royal etiquette” in style.

On top of the collaboration, the scene was then timed with a live stunt, as a skydiver dressed as the queen leaped out of a helicopter over the Olympic Stadium. The Queen then appeared at the games with a massive applause. It was a classic Bond opening for a ceremony many predicted would be a ‘low budget’ affair.

Danny Boyle delivered what few could imagine was possible and the London 2012 Games opened in style. With that said, enjoy the rest of the 2012 Olympic Games!

I am puzzled at why the world thought it extraordinary that HRH needed only one take.

She is prompt-perfect at dozens of state events every year, including the biggest of them all....the State Opening of Parliament. And after thousands of appearances at events and on film, if anyone knows about camera angles she does.

A colleague involved in charity work was at an event with a few years back and people were getting in the way of cameras being held by families pointing at their children about to give her flowers. He saw her nod at her Equerry who moved everyone around slightly to clear the camera's view, with the murmured words and a nod of his head towards "the children.....". She knows her business!

SUNDAY EXPRESS

The Queen has revealed her delight at playing her cameo role in the James Bond stunt that wowed billions of viewers around the world at the Olympics opening ceremony.

She proved a natural in her first screen part and needed only one take to complete the historic scene alongside Bond star Daniel Craig.

She was first approached last year and was “very happy” to agree to appear in the film. Her only demand was that she be allowed to choose her own outfit, a peach Angela Kelly cocktail dress. Show mastermind Danny Boyle, who directed the sequences in March and April this year, said yesterday: “She is a good actor. She was very helpful and very sharp.

“You don’t have to tell her something twice, she picks it up straight away, about cameras and angles. She was very gracious in giving us access to Buckingham Palace. She and Daniel got on very well, so that was all tickety-boo, and the corgis were fine as well.”

During filming the Queen is said to have joked to Craig: “One take, Mr Bond” to which he replied: “Yes, Ma’am.”

The show-stealing moment eclipsed the Queen’s formal contribution to the night in which she opened the Games, telling the world: “I declare open the Games of London, celebrating the 30th Olympiad of the modern era.”

In the movie scene, audiences watched 007 walking into the Palace surrounded by corgis to pick up the Queen, who was sitting at her writing desk.

She greeted him with the words “Good evening, Mr Bond”. Then the pair boarded a helicopter which flew across London to the Olympic stadium.

They appeared to parachute to the ground but at the last moment the Queen appeared in the arena alongside Prince Philip to take her seat to cheers and applause.

She was wearing the same outfit as she was in the film – at the same time as a stuntman dressed as her leapt into the stadium from the helicopter.

She had agreed to time her entry into the Olympic Park to allow spectators and the global two billion audience to enjoy the moment when she apparently leapt from the skies.

The servant who introduced Bond to the Queen in the film was her favourite member of staff, Paul Whybrew, 52.

The 6ft 4ins tall bachelor, who has worked for Her Majesty for more than 30 years and was the one who came to her rescue in 1982 when Michael Fagan broke into her bedroom, was recently made her personal Serjeant-at-Arms.

As a mark of her respect for him, the Queen has given him a house in the grounds of Windsor Castle so he can always be nearby and when she is on her own the pair often watch TV together.

Olympics chief Lord Coe went to the Palace to lobby aides after Boyle told him his dream would be to have the Queen appear on film.

Boyle asked Coe: “Can we make it happen? It would be incredible.”

A source close to Boyle said: “The Queen showed that she, like other members of the Royal Family such as Prince Charles and Prince Philip, has a wonderful sense of fun and humour.”

There were fears within Boyle’s team that any minor mishap in the presenting of the film and the timing of the entry of the Queen and Prince Philip could embarrass them in front of the world.

But the source added: “It all went very well and the Palace seem happy with everything. In fact the Queen was back in the Olympic Park a few hours later to see the Aquatics Centre.”

When asked about her performance by a fellow dignitary yesterday, the Queen just laughed.

She has never acted on film before, though other members of the Royal Family have dabbled with the acting world. Charles made a cameo appearance in an episode of Coronation Street in 2000, while the Duchess of Cornwall has appeared on The Archers.

The Queen is known for her sharp sense of humour and probably relished the chance to remain true to her office, regal and stately, yet send herself up. It was a rare public glimpse of the private woman, who regularly uses a joke to put nervous guests at ease.

While hardly a fan, the Queen has been to two Bond premieres, Die Another Day in 2002 and Casino Royale in 2006.

Chatting to reporters at the cycling yesterday, Lord Coe smiled when asked whether he had been briefed beforehand on some of the ceremony’s surprises, including the appearance of the Queen. “We’re good at keeping secrets,” he said.

“The thing that struck me most about the reaction to it all was how my phone was lit up with messages from friends, family, neighbours and friends of neighbours saying how phenomenal it was.”

God yes! She can stop a regiment of soldiers at a 100 paces with that stare (....that I know that for a fact, having seen her do it! )

Even worse is The Princess Royal....she has her mother's icy stare and her father's sarcastic tongue. She is scary when "not amused". Image

The princess royal has bad press, but she is head of the wrens, least when i was in, there was large summer barbecue party at Northwood base, and she was invited to attend, cant remember why they were having it. Only officers were allowed to go, then we were the ratings, and we eventually found out, it was at her request that other ranks were allowed to go, she basically told them, if it was officers only then she would not be attending. That went down a treat with me. She's always got the thumbs up after that.

I agree 100% with you. I saw her once in Germany and she was great, she was more for seeing the squaddies and have a chinwag than sticking her backside in a comfy chair in the officer's mess. She's just.....well.....a bit bloody scary at times!
