To beat TDKR ist such a great, great achievement. I don't care so much about beating LOTR, because that is a whole different comcept. Knight is similar and that makes it so great.
And it was fast. Last time I looked it was at 34 or something. Must be China. But I doubt it will make another 42. But who knows? With this film everything is possible.

Thanks sundance.

Skyfall Draws Record Crowds In China

The James Bond movie Skyfall, which opened last Monday in China, took in $35 million during its first week, according to the website 21cn.com. It was a record for a 2D film, the website said, and was exceeded only by James Cameron's 3D Avatar, which opened in China with $46 million in its first week in 2010. With numerous scenes shot in Shanghai, the film has received positive notices from Chinese moviegoers. The state-owned website China.org.cn, quoted a 27-year-old media worker as saying, It is a rare thing for an international action movie to depict China in a fashionable way. But on a Twitter-like social media site called Sina Weibo, one blogger commented, It feels somewhat weird to see Bond in a Chinese setting. China.org.cn quoted Beijing filmmaker Chen Chuanlu as saying that the film shows that Hollywood has now broken the stereotype of [Chinese] being treacherous, backward and superstitious ... thanks to the growing importance of the domestic market and increasing understanding about the nation.

Around-the-World Roundup: 'Django' Repeats, 'Skyfall' Opens Huge in China

With a few minor cuts, Skyfall opened to an incredible $34.4 million in its first seven days in China. That's nine percent ahead of The Dark Knight Rises and four percent ahead of The Amazing Spider-Man. The 23rd James Bond movie has now earned $776.6 million overseas, which ranks second all-time for a 2D-only movie behind Titanic ($1.53 billion) and sixth all-time among all titles. Worldwide, Skyfall has reached $1.079 billion, and it will pass The Dark Knight Rises ($1.081 billion) in the next day or two to become the seventh-highest-grossing movie ever.

The box office gross of 'Skyfall' in The Netherlands currently stands at $25,049,955. This amount ranks 9th behind the following countries (Figures are from BoxOfficeMojo.com, so the real figures could be different, but not that much. The Chinese box office figure is from Entgroup.cn):

01 --> $302,044,126: USA
02 --> $161,778,224: UK
03 --> $084,945,572: Germany
04 --> $060,069,449: France
05 --> $049,882,229: Australia
06 --> $044,700,000: China
07 --> $032,199,327: Japan
08 --> $025,241,686: Russia
------------------------------------

10 --> $017,862,662: Sweden
11 --> $017,103,042: Italy
12 --> $016,050,743: South Korea

But most importantly, 'Skyfall' is now officially the most visited film after the 1997 2D blockbuster 'Titanic', according to Sony Pictures Netherlands. In just three months, more than 2.2 million Dutch visitors went to the cinema to see the 2rd James Bond film. http://www.nu.nl/film/3015242/skyfall-b ... -2000.html

Looking at box office figures, 'Skyfall' is already the most popular film ever in The Netherlands, beating blockbusters like 'Titanic', 'Avatar' and 'Harry Potter': http://www.filmdistributeurs.nl/files/T ... 1-2011.pdf

'Skyfall' closes in on $50m box-office in China

"Skyfall" will close in on a $50m USD box-office take in China this weekend, according to estimates.

As of Thursday, the film had scooped $44.7 million ($34.4 million in its first seven days).

007 has had little box-office competition in its Chinese release so far, but that is about to change as the Hollywood flick "Cloud Atlas" opens this weekend. The film tool $2.6m on its opening day of release in China.

Industry watchers claim that approximately 40 minutes were cut out of the epic for Chinese audiences, which puts the minor tweaks made to "Skyfall" in stark contrast.

So we will see a 800 mill internationally and a 1.1 billion at the BO.

You are used to those numbers by now, but they are incredible really. Then again - why not? Bond is as good as a Batman or whatever.

No weekend this week. All thearters will be closed on Saturday. And on Sunday Journey to the West (a chineese movie) will land here, CA and Skyfall will lose most of their screens.
