It sounds like Rachel had another film lined up for the summer, and Daniel likely didn’t see Sgt. Rock as the best use of his time—especially after being snubbed for an Oscar nomination for Queer, which he was clearly aiming for. Given that, he probably doesn’t see Sgt. Rock as the kind of project that would put him back in the awards conversation. The role might also feel too similar to 007 or even Defiance, and he may prefer something with more prestige potential.
That said, he was only ever attached to Sgt. Rock, not formally committed, but it would have been exciting to see him in a WWII action film. Hopefully, the Othello project moves forward quickly!

Amazon MGM gained Creative Control over Bond as Michael and Barbara step back. Quitte an unexpected bummer. Sems Barbara really didnt want to Go on with Bond without Daniel
The top notch acting in the Weisz/Craig/Spall 'Betrayal' is emotionally true, often v funny and its beautifully staged with filmic qualities..

Re: News tidbits
My first instinct is think that Barbara saw that the idiots at Amazon were never going to allow a movie without control over the output, and she realized that holding onto a dead property was going to endanger her father's legacy as well as all the people within Eon and Danjaq who have relied on Bond, so she made the best deal she could under duress..
From MI 6. could be. I am Glad, this Happens now, when I dont care anymore.
Regarding Daniel, Othello is another artsy Film, Not many will want to see probably. He should be careful. Kniffes I see endangered ( no kidding) by his Hair, as he Looks terrible with it. Everybody and his dog will just Talk about that. We‘ll see…

Daniel working with Greta?
Daniel Craig to Star in Greta Gerwig’s ‘Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew’

Daniel Craig has been cast in Greta Grewig’s “Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew.” Yes, that’s seemingly the title that’s been circulating for a few days now.
Craig’s involvement with ‘Narnia’ could also be the reason why he recently dropped out of Luca Guadagnino’s “Sgt Rock,” which was supposed to shoot around the same time as ‘Narnia,’ but that’s just speculation.
It looks like Craig is being eyed for the role of Uncle Andrew Ketterley. He joins Charli XCX as the only other cast member so far announced for Gerwig’s film. Still waiting for Saoirse Ronan’s inevitable casting announcement …
We don’t know much about Gerwig’s planned ‘Narnia’ adaptations for Netflix, but all indications are that Gerwig will be tackling “The Magician’s Nephew.” Her Netflix deal is comprised of two movies she needs to direct. Word recently came out, via Bloomberg, that with or without Gerwig, Netflix were planning to produce eight ‘Narnia’ movies.
‘Magician’s Nephew’ would certainly be a fresh new take on the franchise. If Gerwig were to begin her set of films with a prequel story, this would likely broaden the audience and introduce essential plot elements for the next instalment.
It should also be worth noting that ‘Narnia’ author C.S. Lewis preferred ‘Magician's Nephew’ as the first book in the series and wanted it to be read before all of the other ones.
Rehearsals and filming for Gerwig’s franchise launcher are scheduled to take place in the UK from June through Christmas 2025. A fall production start is being eyed. Auditions are currently taking place for a boy and a girl, portraying characters that are “10 or 11 years old.”
‘Narnia’ has a controversial IMAX November 2026 release planned out. A recent report (via Observer) claimed that the budget on the film would probably “exceed” $200M.

Yeah, me neither. That other role seemed more interesting.
As Long as it is Not the voicing role, which would be a shame
