This can only add to his popularity (and hers).

JAMES BOND AND THE QUEEN AT OLYMPICS VOTED ‘MOMENT THAT MOST CHANGED U.K. TV’
According to a poll of British TV viewers, the Queen’s London Games appearance alongside Daniel Craig‘s James Bond has been voted the “moment that most changed British TV,” the Hollywood Reporter reveals.
“Viewers gazed in wonder and puzzlement, pride and laughter: is this really the Queen?” says TV historian Jonathan Bignell. “The moment beautifully broke the boundaries between fact and fiction, and in doing so made its mark worldwide.”

As cool as can be! Fully agree with the "moment that most chanced British TV"-statement. Not that I knew much about British TV. Still, I never ever thought the Queen would ever have agreed to this funny plot.
That's so cool!!! I can't believe I'm say this, but she somehow stole the show. And I like it.

Queen Elizabeth's Staff Wanted Craig Pictures
Queen Elizabeth's staff requested pictures with Daniel Craig when she filmed her Olympics skit and it was one of the reasons she agreed to do the sketch.
Queen Elizabeth's staff requested pictures with Daniel Craig when she filmed her Olympics skit.
The British monarch asked if her household staff could have their pictures taken with the James Bond actor as a condition of taking part in Danny Boyle's epic Opening Ceremony at the London 2012 games in which she parachuted out of a plane with the actor's on-screen alter ego.
The director revealed: "They are regular human beings, just like us."
The 'Trance' filmmaker added it was momentous to get the queen on board for the segment.
He told Empire magazine: "The moment in it that is truly surreal is the moment she turns around and you see it is the queen and not a double.
"The most wonderful thing for me is that Craig is such a good actor. There is a shot of him - she walks across and leads him out of the room, and just the look on Craig's face: 'I am a fictional spy in service of this queen who is real.' And it is respectful but slightly, like, 'Wow!' "

This just adds to SG’s post on 6 March. On BBC Radio 4’s Today programme this morning the presenters were amused by an item published in today’s edition of The Times about Danny Boyle and his thoughts on why the Queen agreed to appear with ‘Bond’ at the opening of the Olympic Games. The Times online is subscription only, but I think the article is reproduced here: http://www.theweek.co.uk/uk-news/52241/ ... anny-boyle
Director Danny Boyle has finally revealed why the Queen agreed to take part in a James Bond spoof for the Olympics opening ceremony: she wanted her staff to meet Daniel Craig.
Last July, the world watched the Queen leave her private study in Buckingham Palace with Bond, played by Daniel Craig, and clamber aboard a helicopter, leaving behind her corgis.
The chopper then flew to the Olympic Park, where Bond and the Queen appeared to jump out and arrive outside the stadium just in time for her big entrance.
Boyle admitted he had expected to use an actress for the spoof, but was surprised to receive a letter saying the Queen would like to take part.
"I think she wanted the [staff at Buckingham Palace] to have their day with Daniel Craig," Boyle explained at an event organised by The Times. "I also think she senses that the Jubilee, which hadn't happened at that point, would be quite formal and she wanted it to be different."
Boyle said the monarch was easy to direct, despite telling him at the beginning: "I've been at the dentist's all morning. I'm not in a very good mood."
He also said her line, "Good evening Mr Bond", was her idea. "She said, 'Don't you think I should say something?' I said OK, and she did. She just threw something in there."
The Queen wins honorary Bafta for being the most 'memorable Bond girl yet' (and also for her services to film and TV)

Personally I am thrilled on behalf of Daniel, but for the Queen? If I were her, I would be utterly disturbed, if THAT was my best moment in 61 years of reign.
The top notch acting in the Weisz/Craig/Spall 'Betrayal' is emotionally true, often v funny and its beautifully staged with filmic qualities..
