Is this yet another rumor?

Post by Marisa »

I found the following statement about Daniel in this bio. Is it another thing attached to him? or, does he actually have fear of flying?

Craig suffers from the fear of flying.

you can read it here:

Note: I edited the rugby thing out, I just meant the fear of flying.

During his free time, Craig loves to play rugby. Craig suffers from the fear of flying.
Hi Marisa, as far as I know it, he played rugby earlier in his life.
In an pre Bond interview about what he enjoys doing, he`s said something like he likes to buy (plane) tickets to go and see places. So, that doesn´t sound like fear. Anyway, I would guess he`s lost that by now.
The top notch acting in the Weisz/Craig/Spall 'Betrayal' is emotionally true, often v funny and its beautifully staged with filmic qualities..

I know he played rugby; he's put his natural physique down to that.

But fear of flying? I don't know. Sounds too impossible being a film star.

Craig suffers from the fear of flying.
I have read about that before but don't remember where I read it.
Anyway, I'm not sure it's true or not.

I read in a Layer Cake interview he has fear of heights. Maybe this has been misunderstood or transformed into the fear of flying.

I hope the fear of flying quote is not true because he would suffer very often, as he being an actor needs to take many planes. Poor Daniel  !

That is probably what he said and was misquoted. And you're right, if he has any fear of flying he must be miserable since he has to do it all the time.

On the other hand, if the fear of heights is true, wouldn't that mean that he is afraid of getting on planes because they fly at high altitudes? I have never known anyone with fear of heights, so I wouldn't know.

And another question : how can he deal with while filming CR on the top of the crane?? #-o

my mum has fear of heights, it's okay for her to get on a plane, but she starts sweating and trembling when she has to climb a chair or a ladder

Wait a minute, when Hanna mentioned the ladder an image on Daniel came to mind, the one where he is on that crane waaaay high up in the air. I know they have safety platforms or nets or whatever, but still a person with a fear of heights would not get up there even if he has to ,and he seemed OK. I'm sure that's just a crazy rumor.

Yes, he said that the crane scenes were hard and 'I learnt a lot about myself', but I don't think he could have done that unless he was OK with heights. I know he's an adrenaline junkie so I'm sure he would try anything, anyway.

In a video-interview on a German site he was questioned how he had felt on the crane and he has answered with his sexy laughter 8) : "High, very high". And he told how beautyful the look onto the cristalblue bay on the Bahamas was. Everybody has told him not to look down, but he said that he has to look down.
So I suppose he felt not very comfortable on the crane (but, who the hell does???). But if he really suffers from vertigo he would never have managed to do that!!
It's just a rumor!

Hannah by what you said about your mother, it is clear that some people can suffer of fear of heights and not of fear of flying.

I am pretty sure that in the interview I read it was Daniel himself who has saying he was scared of heights (at least it was quoted this way). He commented something about one scene at the top of a building, but I cannot remember his words and I do not find the interview either.

Marisa - Dunda It is my understanding he suffer of vertigo, but as the great professional he is, he is able to fight against his phobia and do a pretty good job. Considering what Shopper12 said "I learnt about myself", it seems believable that he forced himself to face his vertigo.

In one of the 'Becoming Bond' clips (or at least I think that's where it was) he said about the crane scenes, "I have definitely put some demons to bed". So I guess the fear of heights thing was true to some degree. That's not the same as a fear of flying though, I don't think he has that.
