His opinion of Eva Green
Again, from the interview article by Screen, a Japanese magazine.
Interviewer: Bond movies often have shower scenes, but yours was an especially daramatic one.
Daniel:I might say it was the high light of the story. It was in the script from the first and I knew it was the high point to show Bond's humanity of falling love with Vesper.
But because Eva showed us a sort of fierce performance, the scene became a wonderful one, I think.
I took a supporting part where I feel Vesper's agony and showered her with love sitting beside her. By doing that I tried to get the balance between their emotion.
There are many Bond girls, but Eva is the best among them, isn't she?

That`s what he always does, doesn´t he? Giving all the credit to others, non to himself. I can really believe this attitude, because he is constantly doing it - downplaying himself.Lynda wrote:I had read an interview with Daniel and he said his favourite scene in CR was the shower scene, but he owed it all to Eva.
He`s such a wise bastard (as Michael Gambon`s said) Cudos Daniel
The top notch acting in the Weisz/Craig/Spall 'Betrayal' is emotionally true, often v funny and its beautifully staged with filmic qualities..
thank you Yochan for posting and for the translation
The shower scene is so powerful thanks to those two actors.. As said before, Daniel always quotes the others actors perfomance..He's a real gentleman

You only live twice or so it seems..
One life for yourself and one for your dreams...And one day I realize that I was addicted to Daniel Craig's blue eyes.

And these 100 million dollars then would be worth every penny of it....juni wrote:the shower-scene is definitely one of my favourite scenes, too... daniel appears to be so lovely and caring... I'd pay 100 million dollars if I could switch roles with eva... wow, if that would be possible, daniel would be licking my tiny little fingers then....
oooh, can' t think too much about it, I think I need a cold shower!

[-o< yes I must admit my feelings exactly I just melt when I watch that scene in CR. I wonder how the shower ended cos its goes straight to the following morning my mind starts to wander perhaps he goes over to the towel cupboard and wraps her in a big fluffy towel........we can all dream cant we. My husband is 6 foot 4inches I doubt we could get both of us re-inact the shower at our house he is so big. LOL
Your life is not about the breadths you take
but the intake of breadths you experience.

I hate to disagree with Daniel, but that scene was ALL him. Eva was good in many other scenes, but in this one scene it could have been anyone sitting in that shower with DC and it would have turned out so, so, so.... well, you girls know what I mean. I remember having a lump in my throat and holding my breath for the entire time the first time I saw it. He takes over so completely, you have no eyes for anyone else. I was so "shaken and stirred" after that scene, it left me emotionally exhausted and elated at the same time, and yes, jealous as hell!

I was wondering actually, that its perhaps only us as women, who only look at DC. I would like to have a mans view on this. Perhaps men did look at Eva.Marisa wrote:I hate to disagree with Daniel, but that scene was ALL him. I remember a funny remark, when talking about other characters in the movie, someone wrote:,, There were other people?"

I also read somewhere that it was thought perhaps to put Eva in her underwear in the shower in this scene, but I am glad they left it as it was with her in her dress. It makes the scene much less sexier, although it is sexy if you know what I mean! It is perfect as it is and might have cheapened it slightly and the film wasn't like that at all.
"He's blond ... he's Bond ... he's actually quite good!"
So true!! CR is really HIS film in every possible way!Germangirl wrote:I remember a funny remark, when talking about other characters in the movie, someone wrote:,, There were other people?"
I confess - I've never really liked the shower scene. It's ok, but does not thrill me in any particular way (it seems that I'm just about the only one who doesn't like it)

And it must have been thanks to Daniel: from The Guardian January 26, 2007Lynda wrote:I also read somewhere that it was thought perhaps to put Eva in her underwear in the shower in this scene, but I am glad they left it as it was with her in her dress. Indeed, Green fought to keep her clothes on in Casino Royale. "In the shower scene - you remember? - they wanted me to strip down to my panties. We had a good fight about that. I used to go to Daniel and ask for his support." It was a worthwhile fight: for Vesper Lynd to strip at a moment in the film when she is supposed to be horribly upset about the violent world behind 007's sartorially pristine facade would have been even more fatuous than many of the fatuous things for which Bond films have become renowned.
I agree. Daniel makes the scene sexy enough. Perhaps Eva in her undies would have been for the men's benefit.Lynda wrote:I also read somewhere that it was thought perhaps to put Eva in her underwear in the shower in this scene, but I am glad they left it as it was with her in her dress. "...I used to go to Daniel and ask for his support." Martin Campbell was asked about this particular statement, and he said he had no idea what Eva was talking about.
