I've only seen Our Friends in the North once, but as far as remember and understood, he's upset, because she cannot be his girlfriend anymore. She's in fact his boss' girlfriend and a also prostitute.
****ANOTHER POSSIBLE SPOILER****

Yes that was the reason, he felt bad about cheating on his boss and substitute father, so he decided to let it go.

Indeed.
The top notch acting in the Weisz/Craig/Spall 'Betrayal' is emotionally true, often v funny and its beautifully staged with filmic qualities..

Ack! Why didnt' my parents teach me German?!

Ok, wild guess... "So that I can see you better?"

(My parents used to talk in German and make me and my sisters guess what they were saying)....

Wow you guys, I'm impressed! =D>
This is a little hard to explain... it's the slogan of a public (non-commercial) tv station, "Zweites Deutsches Fernsehen", which airs quite a lot of documentaries, news programs and such. Last year there was that campaign where they had several celebrities advertise the station, and they made them cover one eye with their hand and say, "with the second one you can see better" ('zweites' means second). I guess they wanted to imply that this is quality tv as opposed to commercial tv.

Hey, I didn't do too bad!

Hubby speaks some German too, but he won't whisper sweet nothings in my ear... he said it would sound too harsh.

Back to the 'vulnerable' thing, I'm surprised no one posted this one yet.

Soooooooooooooooo cute!!!! To tell you the truth... when I went to Brighton last week or the week before for a weekend break. I saw these windmill thingys... it make me think of Daniel/Ray. I blew them for Daniel.... crazy ain't I? I don't know what these things are called, I call them swirly things!!

That pictures of Ray enjoying the windmill things make my heart melt and he looks so innocent.
