Daniels Bonus
I just found this:
From the Daily Telegraph
Daniel's bonus
Having helped to make Casino Royale the most successful James Bond film ever - grossing more than £300 million worldwide - Daniel Craig has just received a bonus of £2 million from its makers, Eon.
His three-picture deal with the company was not said to be especially generous. "It reflected the fact that he was an unknown quantity in the part," a pal of the 39-year-old actor tells me. "This is just to make sure he doesn't now start to feel hard done by."
It showed 15 hours old
I always thought, they should give him something extra.

Great news for Daniel - he totally deserves this as without him I honestly do not think this film would have been such a smash hit. The story itself is really good and in essence the film would have been a hit but the magical gold love dust that Daniel adds to this with his outstanding acting skills is the key ingredient. Babs Broccoli really knows her stuff and by casting Daniel in this role seals the Franchise's success for at least another 2 films -like I said well done Daniel - arise Sir Bond!!!!!
I will be keeping my eye on our Government's money....and off your perfectly formed arse - You noticed!!

ooh, ooh- you're onto something there! surely after his the three bonds sell into the stratosphere, and give british actors (not to mention spies) a whole new lease of life, Dan'll have to be honoured by the Queen. That would be so good!jovichick wrote:-like I said well done Daniel - arise Sir Bond!!!!!

Don't you think it takes awhile before they give a MBE? Though he has been acting awhile , this is his first big gig . Do any of the other Bonds have one ?
We should try and see his movies in ther first weekend or first weeks they are out because that determines how the film industry looks at its popularity . It is nice they gave a bonus , very unusual . I think he lucked out that every wanted to see a new unknown Bond , to see what all the comotion was about .

He so deserves it. The movie made a killing at the box office and the 2m he got as bonus is just about right if not small compared to what he contributed. He reinvented Bond! And opened it to a new market (women, that is, obviously).
I wonder if this was factored into his contract... that when the profits reach a certain height, he gets a bonus. I've read once that when he told Pierce Brosnan that he (DC) might get the part, Pierce encouraged him and also told him to get a good lawyer. That'd be smart.

Maybe you're just out of practice.
Good for him!
Though 2 mill sounds actually a low figure considering the amount of dosh the movie has brought in! Good grief, somebody just told me a story of some London businessman who sued his employer for getting only one mill for a yearly bonus...
Sir Daniel is a good idea, indeed, and I think his beatification process has already been begun - mickeyO1's story of the saving angel could possibly be regarded as his first miracle

Someone asked did any other Bond get an OBE - lets start with Sir Sean Connery and Sir Roger Moore, to become a Sir you generally have to receive other honours 1st - such as an MBE and an OBE - if footballers and cricketers can get one, not to mention whole rugby yteams for winning one tournament (ok a biggie) think Daniel will not be far behind.
I definitely agree that Daniel deserved his bonus, he has made Bond cool again. And sexy!!!
Don't agree with the Sir Daniel, though. I abhor British Empire terms and think they should be done away with. Personally, I don't think Daniel would accept one, he is too down to earth I think. I always admire the people you hear about who don't accept knighthoods or honours. David Bowie turned a knighthood down which I think makes him extra, extra cool.

I totally agree with you. Good Health To All.
whatever you do it's political, and everything you do should be political- you should be trying to make a point about something. And if you can manage to do that, then you're succeeding as an artist. - Daniel Craig.
I'm truly happy Daniel received an bonus, He deserves it!
But it should have been more. 2 million is not even a 1% of 300 million. Shame. After all, without him, I honestly doubt the movie would have been the hit that it was, good story or not. Because of him I'm not only a DC fan, but a Bond fan again, and I have turned my friends, men and women alike, to CR.

Of course it does, I wasn't being serious. Still, 'Sir Daniel' has a nice ring to it... after his turn of three movies, if they all turn out as succesful as CR, maybe they should consider it. I don't think they will though.laredo wrote:Don't you think it takes awhile before they give a MBE?

Apparently, there is a long list of celebs who have refused the British honors. David Bowie as you mentioned is one of them, Kenneth Branagh,Albert Finney, John Cleese, etc. and there are some who refused but later changed their minds. I wonder what Daniel would do? Not that it makes a difference, but I'm curious.Lynda wrote: David Bowie turned a knighthood down which I think makes him extra, extra cool.
