When DC is done with Bond

Post by Tygerlily »

I know we all don't want to think it, but who will play James Bond after DC?
I just came across this article about one actor who would like the role-- Ioan Gruffudd. I actually like Ioan very much. He was in my top spot before I fell in love with Daniel. I think he's actually a very good actor, though I didn't like some of the movies he has been in (i.e. Fantastic Four). I don't know what kind of Bond, he'd make. For my sake, please don't lambaste him too much I still have lingering feelings. :)

He also says some nice things about DC in the article below.

i really don't want to think about it!

it kind of depends where Daniel takes bond during his time in the tux.

i have a funny feeling dan's only going to do three bond movies- he's working so hard not to get typecast, i doubt he'd want to stay in the role for too long. and rumour has it, CR and bonds 22 & 23 kind of work together in a trilogy-type thing, so that would be a natural time for him to leave, if it's true.

hopefully Barbara Broccoli et al will retain the visionary style they've adopted so far, and be able to 'think outside the box', giving us a brave bond and not just someone who looks a bit like dan.

i'm going to think carefully about this, and see if i can come up with any promising candidates!

I'm feeling sad at the thought of saying goodbye to Dan on this one  I don't want to!!!!! However, Dan beiing the consumate actor that he is will give it up with dignity and move on and we WILL see him in fab movies after this, we'll hold on to our drool girls because the man aint down and out yet.

So, I'm with marsbean-mrsfishy (great name) on this one - need to give serious thought over the successor. Oh I don't have the strength - who could possibly follow Daniel Craig eh

Will be back with thoughts once I get my head together - Later
I will be keeping my eye on our Government's money....and off your perfectly formed arse - You noticed!!

i'm not even sure about this as i say it, but what about Max Beesley? he fits most of the criteria: British, about the right age by then, fairly famous but not massively so, good looking.... i have to say, i don't fancy the pants off him like i do with dan, but he's definitely got something, and maybe bond could bring out the best in him...? i do think he's a good actor, anyway.

is there any reason why bond couldn't be black (apart from the fact that he hasn't been so far)? if not, i propose Adrian Lester, who is sexy and v talented.

I don't think DC will make more than three Bond movies either. He definitely does not want to get typecast, though I don't think there's much risk in that. He's done a whole range of movies before and during the Bond films.

It will definitely be interesting to see that. DC has taken James Bond in a new direction, and there are some concerned fans who don't want to see it go backwards again. I think it would be difficult to find a replacement, but like many of you said . . . no need to worry about that yet! We have two more Bond films to go. :) Yay!

Well...I lost my interest in Bond movies after Roger Moore stopped and only got interested again when DC appeared on the scene ;-) Never liked Timothy Dalton and Pierce Brosnan. And I'm afraid, after Daniel....it will be the same again :-)

I totally agree with you there. Timothy Dalton and Pierce Brosnan just didn't do it for me either. Daniel just brought the whole "007" back to life for me. I too fear that Daniel's successor may not fill his shoes...

Hard as I try, I cannot even imagine anyone else as Bond right now, mainly because I don't want to think about it. With the exception of Connery, and Brosnan in one of the movies, I was not crazy about those other bonds, they just didn't do for me. But I don't want to think about a new Bond when our DC is just beginning. I will take it one movie at a time. :D

He has two movies coming out this year and he'll do plenty more for us to enjoy; and we can continue to come here and talk about how much we love him, whether he is Bond or anyone else. I, for one, cannot wait to see him do other things. I hope he continues to be so brave in his choice of movie and roles. But I must be honest and admit that, like so many of you, I fell in love with him as Bond. SIGH (I'm going to watch CR right now, girls!)

I can't imagine anyone but Daniel as Bond. Other than Sean Connery. I really can't think of anyone else who could play Bond the way Daniel has. He gave us a look at Bond as he becomes Bond. The next film should be very interesting.

Today Daniel was the topic of Sunday dinner with my mom, and two aunts. My mom and one aunt has seen CS, they were telling my other aunt about Daniel and his beautiful blue eyes. It was cute to listen to them as they are all in their mid to late 70's. Mom even had a twinkel in her eyes. They sounded just like school girls. It gave me an insight to what they must have been like as young girls. :D

I can't stand the idea of another Bond...it's too much. It will be far too soon, I'm sure.

Besides, it doesn't look like there's much left from which to make movies before they have to start from scratch. They don't want to do remakes, and they're scraping the bottom of the barrel on plotlines already for Bond 22, making it from short stories...it can only last so long before everything's been done already. It makes me sad. :(

I'm not an expert on Ian Fleming but I think that there is enough short stories left to make at least 4 more movies! :D

Hard to know really, I mean I wasn't a Dan Fan when he was introduced as the new Bond and I wasn't sure but, of course as we all know, he was AMAZING in the role. He is such a good actor and doesn't want to get typecast so I agree he will only do about three. I don't think anyone they get after Dan will be able to live up to his performance.

I never liked James Bond at all until i saw casino royale and of course our lovely daniel.
I will be such a shame if after his success he doesnt sign another contract to do more bond films when the other two have been completed.
Looking forward so much to seeing him in his next film.
If he doesnt sign in my opinion they will not get anyone else as good as him to play bond-hes so addictive!

My Chem teacher made me think...if he wasn't so old, Adrian Paul might be all right for Bond. Just a thought. Aye? Nay?
