This Joanne is, as she herseld admits, not Bond girl material. Taking her would be like EON is not capable, all of a sudden, to find both - beauty and acting ability. The only ugly female in a Bond film, as far as I remember, was Rosa Kleb.

Dear me, I just heard the most amazing story! My worklife involves the Finnish Institute at Rome which happens to be located in a Renaissance villa in one of the most beautiful places in Rome - the BEST view. http://www.irfrome.org/

Apparently a few weeks ago some Italian guy - probably a location scout - had called and visited the institute on behalf of an "internationl film project". After some grilling, the words "James Bond" were uttered... They would have been interested in one days's shoot with outside shots and the upper terrace.

He talked first with two of our lovely girls, but it was a bad day for this guy - one of the senior members of the staff happened to meet him, too, and it was a firm "No filming"... I and the director heard this today and were amazed - all the fame and possible fortune that participation in that project could have brought us... JB can get to National Gallery, London Subway, ESO Observatory, but the Finnstitute says NO!

But Rome seems to be one of the locations, then for real?

Maybe their NO means 'give us more money' :)

Anyway, it would be great if the agreed, especially for you :) Maybe you would even get a chance to see Daniel in action and speak to him :thud:

Thanks for the report, Grip. Hard to believe or understand. But yeah, Rome is a location.

I don't understand the animosity to Froggat. She's not drop-dead gorgeous but none of us have seen the script for Bond 24 she may be perfect for the part Mendes has lined her up for. I didn't and still don't think Naomie Harris or Berenice Marlohe are that attractive but they were perfectly suited to their roles, so much so I can't imagine anyone else but them in Skyfall. I have faith in Mendes.

It's hard to think why someone would have come here pretending to be scouting for a JB movie if they really were not doing that... Someone suggested the guy was a thief scouting the place for that purpose, but he had not been interested what was inside the building, only the outside area and the upper terrace. And they wanted a fountain - we do not have one. Our staff have not been aware of my obsession with DC, so it was not an elaborate joke they concocted to fool me

We get that kind of requests every now and then - as I said the place is pretty special even for Rome. Everyone else apart from the person who said NO thought that we certainly could have opened our doors for Bond 24 if the money was right - we are after all a state-funded institution...

Usually the film crews end up shooting on the piazza next door. Every now and then there are Italian and sometimes even international film crews working in the area with big trucks blocking the parking areas along the streets. I think one of the Mission Impossibles, III?, was shot nearby - the then director's wife and daughter had literally bumbed into Tom Cruise coming home or some such thing.

There is a faint hope that the guy might contact us again with an actual proposal, but I'm not holding my breath. So wherever they end up shooting, I will only be thinking of our brilliant missed chance for eternal JB fame when I watch the movie!

The whole story is kind of hard to believe to be true even for me, but this place IS really amazing and I'm not surprised that the JB team would have been interested to work here. And I keep saying "here" because that's where I am right now. When I turn my head to the left and look out the window of my room, I can see most of the centre of Rome in the evening lights.

Lucky you just for that view and the feeling of being in that city. Slightly green, I have to admit.

Oh boy, I'm with GG!! :o  Rome is like, one of my TOP places to visit. I have never been there and have always wanted to go. 8) I would love to know what kind of view you have. The link you posted doesn't have any pretty pictures.... I am wondering if your company has any 'security issues' Grip, which is why the location was refused by your bosses? Could money have been a factor? Anyway, there is a reason why the Bond company keep coming back to film in Italy.... it's a sophisticated, beautiful and glamorous place to be... mostly... :)

OK - Daniel was in Marakesh over the weekend. They say, filming will also be in the south of Morocco doubling for another country.

They already started to build a lodge or even village in Obertillach. Filming there in January, Febuary.

More confirmed seems also a plane rash - maybe on top or close to whast they build. Austria doublking partly for Noreway?= Not clear. Sölden still in.

He seems to know a bit more. From MI6 member

hi,
regarding the news about Austria/Norway: I am from Austria, so I really hope that we'll see 007 also in the movie in Austria... again

I've spoken with someone from Obertilliach and they believe (they were told) that Austria will be a location double for Norway. As I've also stated in the article, I am not sure if they have the latest information about that in Obertilliach, because as far as I know they also want to shoot on other locations in Tirol and all these locations look very "alpine", but of course, we don't know yet what they are really looking for. Also another local newspaper was writing about the location double for Norway.

On the other hand I've also heard that they were thinking about (this news I've heard in mid August) filming at a very famous Austrian mountain at about 3000m... Which would somehow not really fit together with the news about the Spitzbergen location double... And there were rumours about editing the script towards Austria - but we don't know yet if this really happened or not.

Yeah... as you can see it's not so easy right know, because they really try to keep it secret as long as possible, as usual.

But at least the filming of the airplane crash is more or less confirmed, as I've heard about it from several independet news sources.

I will try to keep us updated

Not much more news, still probably douobling for Norway and a chase around the houses or rather in the village. But nothing really confirmed. Mostly speculation taken from what the involved DON'T say

RIHANNA could be set to appear in the upcoming James Bond film.

The singer has reportedly been approached by producers to see if she'd be interested in a cameo role.

Someone from MI6 made the effort to find pics from possible locations. Little is confirmed, but its beautiful to look at.

Have you seen the first on-set-picture? The production design crew is constructing, what seems to be, a big house in Obertilliach. It could become a big mountain villa/log cabin. So, already sets that can actually be created at the Pinewood lot, are build on location in Austria. That must tell you something.
Image

Also several hotels have been rent out for cast & crew in Tirol, Austria, including the Dolomitengolf Resort in East-Tirol and the Grand Hotel Lienz. Now, usually EON is not booking this stuff for just the cast. You can use fully-loaded trailers for that. I remember back in 2005 EON booked the wunderful Grand Hotel Pupp in Karlovy Vary (which later turned out to be the Hotel Splendide), and that wasn't just for the cast as we know now.

So let's have a look at the hotels that are booked by EON Productions, according to http://www.kleinezeitung.at/nachrichten ... irol.story:

Grandhotel Lienz, Lienz, East-Tirol, Austria (5 stars):
http://www.grandhotel-lienz.com/de/das-grandhotel
Well guys, this could very well be a hotel that will be used in the storyline/plot of Bond 24. Such a wunderful beautiful hotel will not just be used for crew. Just have a look at the pictures. It has got the "grandeur" and elegance of previous Bond hotels, like Splendide ("Casino Royale") and Hotel Palacio ("On Her Majesty's Secret Service"). And looking at the interior design it has got the warmth of a true alpine hotel.

Dolomitengolf Resort, Lavant, East-Tirol, Austria (4 stars "plus"):
http://www.hotel-dolomitengolf.com/de/g ... esterreich
The hotel has got a 27-hole golf course, which in summer is used extensively by the more.......upper class tourists. Actually, the golf course is the biggest in Tirol. Could it be that Bond will be playing golf also :-)?

So besides Obertilliach (where construction of a big house takes place, perhaps villain's lair), Sölden (Rettenbachferner glacier, for skiing), you can also add Lienz (Grandhotel Lienz) and Lavant (most likely used for crew, but it has a wunderful 27-hole golf course) to the list of Austrian locations.
