I will just be glad if they make more of the female characters in this film, now that we no longer have a female M. Not just as a sop to the female audience, but by giving them a key role in the action.
It was always Olga Kurylenko who made me 'grind my teeth'. Gemma Arterton wasn't given a chance to show what she could do and I've had to change my mind about her since I saw her in "Byzantium"... it was an absolutely terrific performance. With the exception of Eva Green and Berenice Mahlowe (God, I never know how to spell her surname!! ) I do not think we can find a "perfect Bond Girl" but everyone has different opinions on this. Outside of Daniels Bonds, I thought Halle Berry in "Die Another Day" was great. She was very sexy, tough, smart and witty. She could "wipe the floor" with Naomie Harris. And that silver and pink dress she wore in a party scene was hot enough to rival the purple and silver dress Eva wore in CR...... 8)

This was the dress Halle wore...

It might be good to see Die Another Day again just for her performance... But then I would have to "put up with" Pierce Brosnan instead of revelling in Daniel...

I don't know Joanne Frogatt as an actress so I don't have an opinion on her. I wasn't overly enthusiastic about that Blake Lively rumour either. I am of course disappointed that it won't be Penelope Cruz.
My favourite one was Eva Green. I loved her and I loved Vesper. She was smart and she did not fall easily for Bond but there was a certain vulnerability about her character I found very appealing. And I loved her wardrobe.
I also liked Berenice : I thought she did a very good job with what she had in terms of part and screen time. And I liked her clothes except for the casino dress.

As for Halle's dress it is not exactly my cup of tea. I find it a bit garish. Sorry Kitten just a matter of different taste

Seems they have their man already, as Deakins knows, its gonna be shot on film.

Someone on Roger Deakins' official forum wrote that Bond 24 will be shot on film as he knows the lab handling it. If this is true, it also means that they already have a cinematographer on board which wouldn't be that surprising.

The top notch acting in the Weisz/Craig/Spall 'Betrayal' is emotionally true, often v funny and its beautifully staged with filmic qualities..

I may be being stupid (as usual) but I don't quite get what "shot on film" means! Is there another way of shooting movies? Digitally? All I know is that there are cameras on set... :-k

There are ongoing huge dabates about what is better: film or digital

http://www.kenrockwell.com/tech/filmdig.htm

Tarantino is a celluloid fan, as far as I klnow he hadn't made a digital movie and I think he will never do that

I just wish I could get in touch with Barbara or MGW and strongly suggest the "4K" format for shooting Bond 24. I've mentioned this before as it is a medium used in the last Muse Concert from Rome and the picture is truely astounding... I suppose 4K is a digital medium. It must be for a picture to be that clear. I'll see what it comes up with on google, if anything... 8)

Yeah, 4K IS digital and appears to be already in use in movie theaters. Maybe you only see a real difference to picture quality at home on a TV and my TV is only 32 inches. They talk about 8K for movies as well which must be an even greater resolution than 4K? It's all too technical for me to really understand.... :? :-k

4K tv's are available to buy but programmes are not yet broadcast in 4k.
Some films on Netflix are and the world cup final will be but unless you have a 4k tv it doesn't mean much.

Bond turmoil as new script fails to thrill

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/ar ... hrill.html

There's talk of a delay to the start of filming. I hope this isn't true.

Unfortunately Baz has a very good reputation od being right, not always, but often. Togather with Logan being tired of doing films and is looking forward to do theater in the future, it makes sense. If they tampoer up a bit on the humor its not a bad thing though.

A little bit more humour I like the sound of, though I think Cleese overexaggerated to get attention. But I don't like the sound of any delays! :gaah: ](*,) ](*,)

If they are able to keep the release date, ok, but maybe they are not.

That could cost him and us Bond 25. Its unbelievable, that 20 months after SF, the script is going into trouble. That will teach them to NOT hire people. who are not 100% committed to Bond during the period. (Mendes, Logan)

Its ridiculous really and all on DC's back.

This is both encouraging and disheartening news in my opinion. From one perspective it is frustrating as it has been nearly two years since SF came out so you would have expected Mendes and co to have a firm story in place so the use of words like 'turmoil' behind the scenes is worrying. However, considering they have noticed that they have a problem I think it is preferable that they give themselves plenty of time to iron out any problems.

I was fearing news like this, Around this time in SF's production they had a pretty rock-solid script and had cast Javier Bardem, Ralph Fiennes and Naomie Harris (pretty much all the major supporting roles). It appears with the lack of news surrounding Bond 24 that in comparison with SF the production was clearly lagging behind.

Despite Logan bringing some finesse and elegance to the script of SF, the thought of him riding solo was a little worrying, especially for those who have seen his show 'Penny Dreadful' where the dialogue is often contrived and cringe-worthy. Purvis and Wade know their Bond and will likely give the thing a much needed kick up the ass for better or worse. Can't Haggis come back?
